Starting the year off right, I hope, with three books down this week (Daniel Handler’s Why We Broke Up, Sarah Z. Wexler’s Awful First Dates, and Charlaine Harris’s A Fool and His Honey). And in addition to the same old, same old (Kiss in the Dark, Goblet of Fire, I was working through The Golden Compass until my copy mysteriously went missing) what I’m currently working through:
The Reading Promise, Alice Ozma – Nonfiction, this time, and recommended by my mother. I’m not very far into it, but it’s the memoir of a girl and her father reading together every night for nine years.
Two for the Dough, Janet Evanovich – I read the first in the Stephanie Plum series back in college and liked it well enough. I was assured it got better and lighter, so I thought I’d keep going, and I’m liking it so far.
Straw House, Wood House, Brick House, Blow, Daniel Nayeri – I liked Another Faust (but hated Another Pan), so I thought I’d give this a shot. This is four novellas, a Western, science fiction, a detective story, and a romance, all with a twist. The inside flap brags about this being composed entirely on an iPhone, which I can only assume means Nayeri has really muscular thumbs.
See you next week!
read 3 books toward a goal of 85 books.
